George Brady was born in Mountshannon, County Galway, Ireland, and attested for the 29th Foot at Coolbreagh, in March 1847. He served with the Regiment during the Punjab campaign 1848-49 ‘and was present at the passage of the Chenab 3 & 4 Dec 1848 & at the battles of Chilianwala 13 January & Goojerat 21 February 1849. Served in the field force under the command of Colonel Turner C.B. in suppression of the Indian Mutiny’ (Service papers refer).
Brady was discharged 23 June 1868, having served 21 years and 59 days with the Colours (entitled to L.S. & G.C.).
