Olive Nina Mary Chetwynd was born on 24 February 1877, daughter of Sir George Chetwynd, 4th Bart., and Florence Cecilia, daughter of 2nd Marquis of Anglesey. She enrolled in the V.A.D. in September 1914 and served at the American Women’s War Hospital, Paignton, from October 1914 to October 1915. Selected as a nurse in November 1915, she subsequently served at the Red Cross Hospital at Ghiza, Cairo, from December 1915 to May 1916, and at No. 1 Red Cross Hospital, Le Touquet (Duchess of Westminster’s), France from September 1916 to February 1917. Her character and work during this period was described as ‘excellent’ despite being ‘handicapped by an old fractured ankle’. She died on 15 October 1946 at Prestbury, Gloucestershire. Sold with copied Red Cross record cards and other correspondence.
