George Hyde Granville was commissioned Ensign in the 34th Madras Native Infantry in 1855. He was employed in Bengal, 1857-58, and was present at Suhar, Shahabad (21 August 1858 and 20 September 1858), Noorpoor and Shahabad once again (15 and 22 September 1858). Having advanced to Lieutenant, he retired in 1866, and died in England in December 1902.
