The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, O.B.E. (Military) Officer’s 1st type breast badge, silver-gilt (hallmarks for London 1919); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (Rev. S. Ll. Webb.); General Service 1918-62, 2 clasps, Iraq, Palestine (Rev. S. Ll. Webb.) light contact marks, good very fine and a scarce clasp combination to a Chaplain (4) £700-900

O.B.E. London Gazette 18 November 1918:
‘For Military Operations in Mesopotamia.’

Stephen Llewellyn Webb was educated at the University of Durham and Lichfield Theological College, and was ordained Priest in 1910. He was employed as Assistant Diocesan Chaplain, Diocese of Lichfield, from 1913-15, before being commissioned Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class in the latter year. He served during the Great War with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from 18 May 1916, was twice Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 27 August 1918 and 5 June 1919), and was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Appointed Assistant Chaplain General on 3 June 1929, he was advanced Chaplain to the Forces, 2nd Class, and served with the Army in Palestine and trans-Jordan prior to the Second World War. He died in the 1940s and is buried at Lympstone, Devon.
