John Crosby was born in the Parish of Ricksworthorpe, Suffolk, and enlisted for the 48th Foot at Ipswich on 21 April 1805, aged 21. He was discharged at Canterbury on 23 February 1818, in consequence of ‘opaque cornea of both eyes from opthalmia’, having served a total of 12 years 309 days, the last 4 years 278 days as a Sergeant. Sold with copied discharge papers.
