Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek (8979 Corl.-Whlr: E. B. Tincombe. A.S.C.) good very fine £200-240

Edmund Beard Tincombe was born in Honiton, Devon, in 1870, and attested there for the Army Service Corps on 8 August 1889, having previously served with the 4th (Militia) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. transferring to the Army Reserve in August 1894, he was recalled to active service on 9 October 1899, following the outbreak of the Boer War, and served in South Africa from October 1899 until August 1902 (additionally entitled to a King’s South Africa Medal). He was discharged on 22 August 1902. He subsequently served in the Great War as a Wheeler Staff Sergeant on the Western Front from 19 May 1915 (additionally entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio).
