Edward Lee was born in Newtown, Montgomeryshire, in January 1878. He was employed as a Collier prior to his attestation in the Rifle Brigade at Pontypridd in October 1895. Lee served with the 2nd Battalion in the Sudan, during the Occupation of Crete, and in South Africa. He was discharged 21 October 1907, having served 12 years with the Colours. Lee died at Merthyr Tydfil in 1966.

Cyril Lee was the son of the above, and was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, in August 1915. He served as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Engineers during the Second War. Lee died at Merthyr Tydfil in August 2011.
