The token of Hancock and Balme may, or may not, be from Carleton-in-Craven; recent authors have suggested one of the two Carltons in Leicestershire and Carlton-in-Lindrick, Nottinghamshire (Granger, TCSB vol. 9, pp.50-1); a Norfolk suggestion would appear incorrect (Marsden, TCSB vol. 12, p.13)
