17th Century Tokens, A copper alloy screw-turn coin and/or token box, the lid decorated with a ring and dot motif, the base punched with the initials it and date 1671 below a merchant’s mark, 38mm, 32.10g. Exterior very fine; perhaps the only known such box bearing a date and initials of the maker or owner £100-200

One or two boxes of very similar style, with coins and tokens still inside but without initials or dates, have been found in the banks of the R. Thames in London, and details of one of them (PAS LON-6FA207) are included with the lot
