British Tokens, Tickets and Passes

18th Century Tokens, Co DUBLIN, Dublin, John Lloyd and Joseph Ridley, Pattern Halfpenny, 1794, in copper, unsigned, Justice standing, dividing date, the land we live in, denomination in exergue, rev. crowned l&r monogram, payable in dublin or harolds cross factory, edge plain, 9.19g/12h (DH McKivor 345 bis, this piece). Minor metal fault on reverse, otherwise extremely fine with brown patina; only one other believed known [Baldwin 102, 2754] £500-1,000

This most interesting piece, which first surfaced in 1983, would appear to pre-date the regular series of tokens by Lloyd & Ridley, on most of which the reverse legend transfers to the edge
