A pair of conch shell ruby and diamond set earclips, 1940s, modelled as two colour precious metal conch shells accented with graduated old brilliant and single-cut diamonds and mixed-cut rubies, to clip fittings, length 43mm. £600-800
Provenance: The illustrated portrait depicts the vendor’s mother painted in 1950 wearing the earrings : Miss Judith Currie was the youngest daughter of Captain and Mrs Bertram Currie of Dingley Hall, Market Harborough, Leicestershire and Dunbeath Castle. The portrait was painted by the artist Olive Snell.
