The Royal Archives records the names of just 11 individuals who received this medal in the years 1903 to 1906, after which the medal then ceased to be awarded. One further, unrecorded, award is known to Sir James Gildea, G.B.E., K.C.V.O., C.B. (sold Dix Noonan Webb, 4 December 2008).
