D.C.M. London Gazette 26 August 1918; citation 21 October 1918:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. For upwards of two and a half years he has performed conspicuously good work in maintaining communication between group headquarters and batteries, often under most difficult and dangerous conditions. He has never spared himself, and his courage, energy and devotion to duty have always been most praiseworthy.’
Sold with copied m.i.c. which shows that he entered the Egyptian theatre on 15 July 1915, and notes that medals were returned in January 1921 for amendment to surname which is changed from Wills to Wells on his card.
