Candahar 1842 (Serjeant Joseph Jarman H.M. 40th Regiment) naming correctly engraved in running script, fitted with original steel clip and small ring suspension, light traces of brooch marks to reverse and a little polished, otherwise good very fine and rare £700-900

Approximately 130 medals issued to Europeans with this reverse, including 64 to the 40th Regiment.

Verified on Gordon Everson’s reconstructed roll The Fighting Fortieth at Candahar. Biddulph states that of the 64 “Candahar” medals struck for the 40th Foot, 42 were for relatives of the deceased officers and soldiers and 22 for the sick and invalided.
