Adam Masterton served with the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch in South Africa during the Boer War, and was severely wounded at Magersfontein on 11 December 1899, dying of his wounds seven days later at Orange River on 18 December 1899.
Note: The medal roll initially recorded him as ‘K.I.A. 11/12/99’; this entry is subsequently crossed out, and corrected to read ‘D.O.W. 18/12/99’.
