Arthur Burton was born in Warrington, Lancashire, and attested there for the Royal Scots. He served with the 13th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 21 August 1916, on which date the Battalion was in the front line at Martinpuich, Somme. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

James Walker was born in Stalybridge, Cheshire, and attested for the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment at Mossley, Lancashire. He served with the 1st/7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 28 December 1915. He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
