John Bernard Davies was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, and was ordained Deacon in 1901 and Priest in 1902. He served as Curate of St. Clement’s, York, 1901-08, and of Pontefract, 1908-12, and as Vicar of St. Peter’s Anlaby, Yorkshire, from 1912. He was appointed Temporary Chaplain to the Forces in 1918, relinquishing his commission with the honorary rank of Chaplain to the Forces in 1919.
