2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) Part Full Dress & Mess Dress Uniforms Of Honorary Lieutenant (QM) Peter Fraser Fleming. Appointed 21st February 1894. Comprising Full Dress black bearskin this complete with QVC period gilt plume holder, 9” white feather plume and carrying case, the bearskin with buff leather lining, correct pattern gilt brass chin chain (stitching faults). Full Dress scarlet tunic complete with all lacing and gilt regimental buttons and rank badges. Full Dress pouch belt & pouch (HM London 1891 by BWL). Full Dress waist belt with very fine gilt and silver rectangular plate (QVC), together with the companion white canvas waist belt for wear under the tunic, this with laced straps for sabre only. Sabretache in black patent leather with large Eagle/Waterloo gilt mount (rubbed), complete with the three laced suspension straps and laced waist belt this with special pattern two-part plate in gilt metal, thistle panel ends and ‘S’ shaped fastener (spear point finials and central globular decoration). Full Dress sword knot with thistle finial (distressed), full dress white leather gauntlets. A section of broad thistle pattern gold lace removed from overalls. Mess Dress waistcoat of special regimental pattern, scarlet cloth with gold lace panelled front, to save wear on the gold lace olivets this garment fastens at the rear, Mess Jacket (named inside to ‘P F Fleming Scots Greys’) of scarlet cloth, stand up collar, the whole edged all round with regimental pattern lace, gilt teat buttons (hook & eye fasteners), some stitching faults here and there but otherwise in very good overall condition £2000-3000

Peter Fraser Fleming was born in 1855 and attested for the 2nd Dragoons on 7 October 1874. He was appointed Honorary Lieutenant (Quarter Master) on 21 February 1894, after 19 years and 135 days in the ranks, and retired as such in 1901.
