3rd Middlesex Artillery Volunteer Corps Officer’s Full Dress Racoon Fur Busby c. 1861-1908, an exceptionally rare example being constructed of the brown and white ringed tail fur of racoons, complete with plain scarlet cloth bag, silver plated plume holder this of fused grenade pattern the ball mounted with the Royal Arms a cannon and motto ‘Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt’, the white over red plume is a replacement, buff leather patterned sweatband and quilted silk lining, correct pattern plated chin chain, three small moth nips to the red cloth bag, some fur loss to the area near the plume holder otherwise very fine condition for its age £400-600
Note: The 3rd Middlesex Artillery Volunteer Corps retained their fur busbies preferring these to the blue cloth helmet of 1878.
