Published casualty roll gives a Private Ireland with no initial as serving with the K.S.L.I. (attached Middlesex Regiment) and being killed in action 11 November 1950. Ireland, with his initials and number, is confirmed as killed in action on the latter date in The Middlesex Regiment 1919-1952 by Kemp.
The 1st Battalion, Middlesex Regiment were involved in a series of advances edging northwards to enlarge the bridgehead over the River Chongchon, 11 November 1950.
