‘For conspicuous gallantry when holding a bombing post against continual attacks by the enemy. When an enemy bomb fell among some wounded men he at once picked it up, and was throwing it away when it exploded and blew off his hand.’
Martin Doyle served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps on the Western Front (entitled to Victory Medal).
