Wazir Singh served as a Subedar with the 17th Dogra Regiment, and was awarded the Indian Distinguished Service Medal for service in Burma, 1930-32, where he was also Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 20 December 1932). He was awarded the Order of British India, 1st Class, on 8 June 1944.
