Defective Medal: Military General Service 1793-1814, brooch mounted disc only with remnants of suspension claw and small ring for safety chain affixed in addition (William Hargraves, 6th Foot.) nearly very fine £150-200

Entitled to 3 clasps, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Orthes.

William Hargraves was born in the Parish of Blackburn, Lancaster, and enlisted into the 6th Foot at Bolton on 17 May 1811, aged 16. He served in ‘Portugal Six Months, in Spain Two Years, in America One Year, in France Three Years, in the Cape of Good Hope Four Years, in the East Indies Twelve and a Half Years, remainder at Home.’ He was recommended for discharge at Colabah Barracks, Bombay, on 29 November 1837, and received his final discharge in England on being confirmed ‘unfit’ on 11 July 1838.
