I.D.S.M. London Gazette 9 September 1942. The original recommendation states:
‘8979 L-Nk Hukm Dad 4-16 Punjab Regiment.
During an attack on Libyan Omar on 26 November 1941 this N.C.O. led his section with great dash and determination in face of heavy M.G. fire. Although wounded at the outset he refused to withdraw and continued to command his section throughout the action. This example of courage and determination undoubtedly enhanced the success of the attack and was a great encouragement to his men.’
