Waterloo 1815 (Serj. John Cook, 6th or Inniskilling Drag.) fitted with original steel clip and bar suspension, light edge bruising, otherwise good very fine £1,800-£2,200

John Cook was born in the Parish of St Stephen's, Norwich, Norfolk, and enlisted for the 6th Dragoons at Norwich on 27 November 1795, at the age of 20, a blacksmith by trade. He was discharged to a pension at Chelsea Hospital on 17 June 1818, in consequence of a ‘rupture caused by a kick from a horse on the 9th of Feby. 1816 when stationed at Walton, is rendered unfit for service. He was wounded at Waterloo on the 18th June 1815 in the left arm.’ His total service, including two years for Waterloo, amounted to 24 years 272 days, the final 9 years 3 days being in the rank of Troop Sergeant Major.
