Three: Corporal S. Lees, Manchester Regiment

Samuel Lees was born in the Parish of Openshaw near Manchester and enlisted into the Manchester Regiment in 1904 aged 18 years. On completing his service in 1906 he was transferred to the Army Reserve. With the outbreak of the Great War he returned to the colours with the rank of Corporal. After active service with the B.E.F. he was transferred in July 1915, being attached for duty with Armstrong Whitworth & Co, and in December 1915, with the National Gas & Engine Company. He was discharged on the termination of his engagement on 17.3.1917. Sold with copied service papers.
