Provenance: Baldwin Auction 13, 28 May 1997, lot 1995; M.P. Hughes Collection, Spink Auction 139, 16 November 1999, lot 92.
Struck from a pair of dies which are not part of the normal sequence. The bust resembles that on the unites, while the reverse, with a small uncertain symbol above the shield (probably a pellet-in-annulet) and rose-petal garniture at the base, is unlike any other reverse of the type. Rose-petal garniture is normally only found on coins with mm. rose
