The Middlesex Music Hall, formerly The Great Mogul, renovated and renamed in 1851; the building was demolished and rebuilt in 1911. The Empire Theatre, opened in April 1884 and closed in January 1927; the site is that of the present-day Empire Leicester Square. The Marylebone Music Hall, in Marylebone High street, was attached to the Rose of Normandy tavern. The Strand Music Hall opened in October 1864 and was renamed the Gaiety Theatre in December 1868
