William Thomson attested for the Royal Field Artillery at Largs, Ayrshire, and served during the Great War on the Western Front from 6 May 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving as a Sergeant with the 51st Division Ammunition Column, most likely for gallantry either at Cambrai or at the Houthulst Forest in October 1917. He subsequently joined the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (Territorial Army), and was awarded his Territorial Efficiency Medal per Army Order 491 of November 1921.
Sold with the recipient’s original medal riband bar; and copied Medal Index Card and other research.
