Alfred Bayley was a native of Congleton, Cheshire. He served during the Great War with the 1/7th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment in the Gallipoli theatre of war from 8 August 1915. Bayley subsequently transferred to the 9th (Service) Battalion and served with them on the Western Front.
