Kenneth Amber North was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, on 12 July 1891 and was first commissioned on 18 January 1911. He was promoted Lieutenant in the 24th Punjabis, Indian Army, on 18 April 1913, and was promoted Captain in the 32nd Sikhs on 1 September 1915. He served during the Great War in Mesopotamia from June 1916 to April 1918, for which service he was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 12 March 1918) and awarded the Military Cross; and then with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from April to October 1918. Promoted Major on 18 January 1928, he served as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General, India from 19 October 1929 to 19 April 1932, and then as Brigadier Major, India from 20 April 1932 to 27 July 1933, and was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel on 30 August 1935. He died in Kenya on 19 January 1989.
