A member of the short-lived Gurkha Company of the Corps of Guides. This élite corps is famous for its forced march from their depot at Mardan to join the forces on Delhi Ridge, a distance of of 600 miles covered in 3 weeks at the hottest time of the year. On the first day of its arrival at Delhi the majority of its officers became casualties.
