William Shevlin, who was born in January 1873 and originally served in the East Kent Regiment, was appointed a Sub-Conductor in the Indian Army in September 1912. Awarded his M.S.M. for ‘valuable services rendered in connection with the war’ (London Gazette 22 February 1919), Shevlin was placed on the Retired List in January 1928, having gained appointment as a Commissary and Major in March of the previous year.
