Patrick Finnegan, alias Finucane, was born in the Parish of St George’s East, London, and enlisted into the Devon Regiment on 30 March 1883. He served abroad in India, December 1884 to January 1893; in Egypt, January 1893 to April 1894; in the East Indies, October 1895 to December 1899, the remainder at Home. He served in the Tirah 1897-98 expedition (Medal with 2 clasps) and was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal in July 1903 with a gratuity of £5. He was discharged in the rank of Sergeant on 31 March 1908, and died in London on 25 April 1942.
