Three: Private J. McMillan, Scots Guards, later Army Service Corps

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1902 (3528 Pte. J. Mc.Millan. Scots Guards.); British War and Victory Medals (M2-115233 Pte. J. Mc Millan. A.S.C.) mounted as worn, contact marks, nearly very fine or better (3) £140-£180

John McMillan was born in Edinburgh in 1878, and attested there for the Scots Guards on 15 August 1900, having previously served in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Royal Scots. He served with the 1st Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War from 16 January to 4 October 1902, and transferred to the Army Reserve on 15 August 1907. He was discharged on 14 August 1912, after 12 years’ service. He subsequently served during the Great War with the Army Service Corps.
