Ernest Lines was born in Braunston, Northamptonshire, lived in Northampton and enlisted at Rugby, Warwickshire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, he was killed in action on the Western Front on 4 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
With damaged card boxes of issue and damaged registered envelopes, addressed to ‘Mr E. Lines, 30 Brighton St., Stoke, Coventry’ and ‘Mrs D. A. Lines, 60 Holmsda ... Great ....’ With slip to accompany the medals addressed to ‘Mrs D. A. Lines, 60 Holmsdale Road, Great Heath, Coventry’.
