William Henry Daniels was born in Birmingham in June 1887, and attested there for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps on 1 May 1906. Posted initially to the 1st Battalion, he transferred to the 2nd Battalion on 17 December 1907 for service in India. He returned to the U.K. in February 1914, and transferred to the Army Reserve. Recalled to the Colours following the outbreak of the Great War, he served with the 1st Battalion on the Western Front from 20 September 1914, and remained with the Battalion until ill-health forced his return to England in April 1915. He was discharged, medically unfit, on 13 January 1917, and was awarded a Silver War Badge. He died in Birmingham in 1951.
