George Rhodes was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, and attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at Keighley, Yorkshire. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 November 1914, and having been advanced Company Sergeant Major was killed in action on the Western Front on 9 May 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
