Three: Gunner J. B. Lambert, South African Field Artillery, late Rand Rifles

1914-15 Star (Pte. J. B. Lambert Rand Rfls.); British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Gnr. J. B. Lambert. S.A.F.A.); together with two sporting prize medals, one silver and enamel, Spartan Harries Club, the reverse inscribed ‘J. B. Lambert 1sr 300 Yds Handicap 15.1.14’; the other bronze, C.P.A.A. & C.U. Championships, the reverse inscribed ‘Won by J. B. Lambert 3rd 4 Miles Flat 1913’, both in cases of issue, very fine (5) £50-£70

James Bird Lambert was born in Cape Town and served with the Rand Rifles during the Great War in German South West Africa from 25 December 1914. He attested for the South African Expeditionary Force at Potchefstroom on 14 April 1916, and served with the South African Field Artillery in Palestine. He was discharged on 1 July 1919.
