Thomas Edward Rodda served during the Great War initially with the South African Engineer Corps in German South West Africa, before re-enlisting for General Service in Edinburgh on 10 January 1916. Posted to the Army Reserve the following day, he was recalled to the Colours for service with the 4th South African Infantry on 21 September 1916, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front. He was wounded in action on the Western Front on 12 April 1917, and later that day was posted missing, assumed killed in action. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
