Greece, Kingdom, Cross of Valour, silver and enamel, with silver star emblem on riband; together with a Greek War Medal 1940-41, for Land Operations, bronze; and a Greek War Star 1941-45, for Land Operations, bronze, the Cross of Valour of slightly crude manufacture, wth crown suspension slightly loose, therefore nearly very fine (lot) £70-£90
James Ardley attested for the Essex Regiment and served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force during the Great War from 8 November 1915. He subsequently transferred to firstly the Royal Flying Corps, and later the Labour Corps. His brother (?), Frederick John Ardley served during the Great War with the 18th Battalion, London Regiment, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
