Robert Frederick Housego, a native of Saffron Walden, Essex, was born in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, and attested for the Hertfordshire Yeomanry at Harlow, Essex. Transferring to the Hertfordshire Regiment, he served with them during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 21 September 1917. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, France.
