Petrus Christiaans was born in April 1897, and was a Blacksmith by trade. He enlisted in the Cape Corps in July 1941, and was attached to 21 Bomber Squadron, South African Air Force, from February 1942. His service was terminated with an honourable discharge (possibly due to his age) 21 September 1944 (Scarce for Cape Corps to receive Bar ‘North Africa 1942-43’.)
