John Mark Sutton was born in Beckenham, South London, in February 1925 and first went to sea in the British Integrity in April 1945, but was not entitled to any campaign awards. Of his subsequent career as a Radio Officer, he served off Korea in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Maine; this ship arrived early in the Conflict in July 1950 at Pusan being the only hospital ship present at that time,and earned the battle honour Korean War for its work. For the Suez campaign Operation Musketeer Sutton served on R.F.A. Tidereach; and off Borneo in the R.F.A. Fort Duquesne. He came ashore at the end of 1972.
