Jubilee 1887, bronze, City of London Police (P.C. 576. J. Joy.) with bronze top riband bar, minor edge bruising, therefore good very fine £80-£100
James Joy was born in East Malling, Kent, and served with the Royal Horse Artillery for 9 years and four days prior to his joining the City of London Police in March 1877. His colourful career was regularly punctuated by a number of infringements, mostly due to drink and occasional rudeness to a superior officer. Joy retired ‘unfit’ for further service, 8 August 1897.
