Coronation 1911, Metropolitan Police (P.C., J. Settrington.) nearly extremely fine £80-£100
John Edwin Settrington was born in Yorkshire, and joined the Metropolitan Police in May 1910. He served with ‘M’ (Southwark) Division, and was severely injured when he discovered, and tried to prevent, a gang from raiding a warehouse in 1917. Settrington was beaten and suffered severe injuries to his spine, and as a consequence he was forced to resign, 9 September 1917. He was awarded a special pension at the rate of £93.18s.6d, however, he died from his injuries 17 December 1917.
