Bristol Humane Society Medal, 48mm, bronze, the reverse inscribed ‘To James Dickens for Saving the Life of James Reed. August 1st. 1836.’, with steel clip and ring suspension, nearly extremely fine, scarce £300-£400

Provenance: W. H. Fevyer Collection, Dix Noonan Webb, September 2008.

James Dickens was born in Pill, Somerset, in 1805, and served as a Bristol Channel Pilot. He died at Pill in April 1871, and is buried in St. George’s Churchyard, Easton in Gordano, Somerset.
