First Midlothian Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet c. 1878-87, the skull complete with all plated fittings, the frontal plate is of other ranks pattern, not unknown for Scottish Volunteer Units of crowned star pattern with laurels, central circular strap ‘First Midlothian Rifle Vols’, the plate is original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband and purple silk lining, a small dent to the front peak metal trim otherwise in very good overall condition £400-£500
