D.C.M. London Gazette 3 September 1918:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While the battery had to change position under heavy shelling this Non Commissioned Officer took charge of the men and assisted in evacuating the guns, afterwards going back to see that all the equipment had been removed. He showed fine courage and ability under heavy shell fire.’
