Alexander Paterson Gow was born in Canongate, Edinburgh, in January 1886. He served during the Great War with the 10th (Service) Battalion, Royal Highlanders in the French theatre of war from 20 September 1915.
Gow subsequently transferred to the 7th Battalion, with whom he was awarded the Bar to his M.M. He died in Canongate, Edinburgh in December 1956.
